PRACTICE HISTORY

Onewa Road Doctors is a shared two Doctor practice situated on the lower North Shore of Auckland about a 5 minutes drive from City Hall across the Harbour Bridge. It has a stunning outlook back across Auckland’s harbour towards the city and is located on a main thoroughfare. There are many local attractions and shopping centres within a short walk or drive from the practice.

The Practice was established by Dr Holgate in approximately 1930 and moved from Northcote to Birkenhead in 1937. The exquisite art deco building that houses the practice was constructed as a Clinic with the Doctors house behind it in the 1930’s. Dr Holgate was succeeded by Dr Davies and in 1968 Dr Gary Johnstone took over the clinic.Dr Appanna succeeded Dr Johnstone in 2006 and Dr Naidoo joined him in 2010.

The practice slogan “Caring for our Community since 1937” tells its own story. The practice is very well equipped for General Practice and Emergency Care and is a member of Harbour PHO. The Practice is Cornerstone accredited by the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners and HDANZ and also accredited by the University of Auckland as Teaching Practice for Medical Students.
